Come through the garden gate and I'll show you around my back garden plot. See what's working, what's not and help me find out how the cabbage white butterflies are getting through my brassica nets.
I absolutely loved this, Kathy, thank you for sharing your veg patch with us! Am hoping to finally get some raised beds in and ready for next year, is really lovely to see how you do things (in a way that is considerably less intimidating than our neighbours!).
Oh how exciting, Christie - raised beds are the way forward in smaller, domestic spaces I think. I find I spend much more time growing now I have raised beds than when I had a big patch of soil which always needed cultivating and weeding etc. What have your neighbours got?
My neighbours have immaculately-organised rows (and rows) of tomatoes and peppers and courgettes and... well, there's so many I can't even think. I know I wouldn't be happy trying to do it like that, but the area I'm going to convert into the raised bed bit is such absolute carnage at the moment that I still try not to look over our very low wall at it!
Gosh it does sound wonderful if a little ordered! Good luck with the carnage on your side - the hard but is always getting the soil to a good state but it’s really worth the effort because once you have good soil, everything else is easy. Enjoy!
Yes the soil is definitely a challenge! I'm hoping the raised beds will help with that. There are some things in our garden growing perfectly well with very little help from me (figs, blackberries, grapes, apples, pears) and I have managed not to kill off everything I've grown in pots, so I have some hope! Really looking forward to your future videos, will be signing up as soon as is possible :)
Really lovely video, thank you. Would you mind sharing where your arches are from? I have something similar in my garden, a cheaper version to try out for a couple of years, but they have now rusted through and I’d like to get a more permanent replacement. Thank you, Sally
thank you - I'm really pleased you like the video. The arches are from Crocus and called 'Rustique garden arch'. I'm really happy with them. Enjoy and thanks again for your comment.
unfortunately cannot work my way into canva, as I only have a phone and cannot get the code from my email at the same time as it being open to canva haha, but I am sure the video is glorious ❤️Spaniel too

Genius idea with the frame going between beds! Must try that when I get my second bed!!
Oh and hello to the dogs 😊
I’m so pleased. Thank you! Humf is proving a very enthusiastic assistant gardener...
