FREE TO VIEW: I caught up with Flora Donovan from produce suppliers, Natoora, to make lunch and talk about 'radical seasonality' and shopping in a sustainable, pro-farmer way.
Really enjoyed this chat. It struck me in France this summer how access to fresh seasonal food (through local markets) is so much better than in the UK. You don't have to be on a high income to access good quality, seasonal, nutritious food. That is definitely an aspect of sustainability that we need to improve on in the UK.
Exactly! The French market culture is such a wonderful thing. And I love that it’s generally quite rough and ready and not like so many of our UK markets which have become a bit Hackney wild honey for £12 a jar etc. You’ve made me yearn for a French holiday. Did you have fun?
This is such a wonderful chat, now I want a job with Natoora! X
Me too!

Yes it was lovely and I became a tomato salad addict! (with melon and burrata etc).
the BEST combo!
Thank you, fascinating chat. Natoora are doing great things and it is really good to hear how they work with farmers. We need more diversity!
It's really impressive stuff. Their approach clearly requires a lot of cash, but at least it helps me understand why the produce is expensive.
I find once you grow your own veg you wonder how it can be so cheap in the supermarkets!
Exactly! Anyone who can, for example, grow a cauliflower deserves medal given how tricksy they are, and certainly more than £1 for their efforts.
