Emailing you yesterday and now going to come and see you in St Neots - actually starting to feel like a bit of a stalker 😂🤦🏻♀️ Hoping I’m kicking this flu into touch and can get outside this weekend and give the greenhouse a good scrub… (I’d love to see the look on my younger self’s face if she’d known that I’d be a 40 something relishing cleaning the greenhouse. Or even that I’d have a greenhouse. Not much need for one when you’re drinking cocktails in heels in Dubai / Singapore / Wherever… 😂) xx
I'm so pleased you can come to St Neots! Thank you. Will be great to meet you. Tell me, did you keep your heels from your cocktail days? I have a whole shelf of them from my old adland days. I haven't worn them for a decade, and have no intention of wearing them, but somehow I can't get imagine getting rid of them!
I didn’t keep them but only because I left My Other Life because I had a major stroke… I had to learn to walk again and whilst you’d probably never guess I was wheelchair bound for a while now, my balance is still ‘questionable’ so I literally can’t walk in them 🙄. I’m a fan of the barefoot shoe brigade now - talk about one extreme to the other… I do still have my very redundant BlackBerry that they didn’t want back squirrelled away in the back of a cupboard though for old times sake…. And a couple of exquisite dresses I could probably fit a single thigh into now at a push… 😂
Wow, Kate. Yours is a remarkable story. Who’d have thought shoes could be such a symbol of change? And, I imagine, perspective. I look forward to picking your brains on the barefoot thing. I’m wondering about trying some…
Hopefully there will be a memoir at some point…. My hands are a bit full at the moment home educating (yes, I’m THAT person - the stroke changed everything. I’ve gone from jet-setting Global Sales Director to a sourdough baking, home educating, chicken adoring, dog loving, meditating, raw milk drinking mama… 🤣) the two small people who have graced my life since the stroke (I honestly wish I’d been able to photograph my neurologist’s face when I told him I was pregnant… 🤣) but there is a loose plan… Ish… I need to conquer Substack first and as I’ve not actually written anything for it yet, I have some way to go…
Move over St Neots, we have barefoot shoes to talk about…. x
Thank you! I really like doing events and I feel like it's necessary when you're a non-celeb writer in a tough non-fiction market - people need to see the whites of your eyes before they buy the book. Feels slightly like I'm on the campaign trail but it's all great fun

This has got Substack serialisation written all over it. Let's put that on the agenda to cover after barefoot shoes...
😂😘 See you in April (if Waterstones release the tickets so they can be booked 🙄😂) x
What a great list of events to support the book coming out into the world!
