Welcome to Tales From the Veg Patch
START HERE and join me for a stroll in the veg patch while I'll explain what this is all about…
Hello! Welcome to Tales From the Veg Patch. I’m very happy to show you around my messy little veg patch. I hope you’re hungry and wearing wellies.
I’m Kathy. I’m a food writer, cook, veg grower and London ratrace escapee . I wrote a cookbook called From the Veg Patch and I write about growing and cooking seasonal veg. More on all that here.
I’ll be doing two things here:
1) Sharing simple, seasonal recipes made for people who aren't necessarily vegetarian but want to eat less meat – all inspired by my back garden veg patch.
2) Reconnecting with the land by inviting you into my garden with uplifting stories about growing my own food and the healing powers of nature (from first hand, bitter experience).
What to expect?
A free monthly newsletter and a free weekly recipe. If you’d like to pay what works out at about 75p per week, you’ll also get a bunch of extras outlined here:
Find more details on those subscriber benefits here.
Whichever subscriber option you choose, they all come with my undying gratitude for supporting my work in such a direct and meaningful way.
On that subject…
Tales from the Veg Patch is entirely reader-supported. Which is huge because it means we’re not at the mercy of the algorithms.
So I don’t spend my days making butter board recipes (or whatever fickle nonsense is trending on TikTok) in order to get my work seen whilst also paying my bills.
And, more importantly, you have something more real than that fluff to inspire your cooking. So thank you for saving us all from more vegan, avocado buddha bowl recipes.
My garden gate is open…
… for everyone (even buddha bowl lovers). Please subscribe so you never miss a post (they’re all sent to your inbox) and do tell a few friends if you feel like it (you can give a subscription as a gift too).
I’m busy here on Notes (Substack’s Twitter killer) and you can drop your questions or comment below every post, all of which you’ll find here. You’ll also find me over on Instagram so message me anytime, anywhere.
Right, let’s pick some courgettes and tuck in,
Kathy you have explained your reasoning so wonderfully here and and I never even knew about Notes. Thanks so much and I am now a proud paid subscriber.
